Creating a QR Code for a Property Website
Quick reference for agents. Use this any time you need a scannable QR code for a listing, on a yard sign rider, flyer, or business card.
Option 1: Quick & Free (one-off listings)
- Copy the URL of the specific property listing page (not just the site homepage).
- Go to a free QR generator: Canva's QR tool, qr-code-generator.com, or qrcode-monkey.com.
- Paste the URL into the “Website/URL” field.
- Customize with Bramlett brand colors, logo, or a frame that says “Scan for Details.”
- Download as PNG or SVG. Use SVG if it will be resized for print.
- Test the code on your own phone before sending it to print.
- Add it to your collateral: sign rider, flyer, business card, or closing gift.
Option 2: Reusable & Trackable (recommended for sign riders)
A free static QR code is locked to one URL forever. If you want a rider you can reuse across future listings, you need a dynamic QR code instead. A dynamic code points to a short redirect link that you can repoint to a new property page anytime, without reprinting anything.
- Use a dynamic QR / link shortener tool such as Bitly (or Flowcode, QR Code Generator Pro).
- Create a consistent naming convention, e.g. bit.ly/bp-[address abbreviation].
- Generate the QR code from that dynamic link, not directly from the property URL.
- Store the QR image in the listing's Google Drive folder so it's easy to find and reuse.
- When the listing changes, log into the dashboard and update the destination URL. The printed QR code stays exactly the same.
Note: Free dynamic QR code tools often have limitations, such as scan limits, restricted analytics, expiration periods, or paid upgrades. Agents should review the service terms carefully before using a free platform, especially for long-term sign riders.
Reach Out to Stokes for a QR Sign Rider
Contact Stokes to have them produce a QR code rider for your sign post. Before you order, confirm with them:
- Whether they generate a dynamic QR code (reusable, repointable) or a static one (one-time use).
- If dynamic, ask who owns/manages the redirect: Stokes, or do you set it up on your own Bitly/Flowcode account?
- Turnaround time and reorder cost, in case you want extras on hand for future listings.
- Rider size and mounting style so it matches your existing sign posts.
Testing & Print Tips
- Scan on both an iPhone and an Android camera app before finalizing. They can behave differently.
- Keep the printed QR code at least 1″ x 1″ so it scans easily from a few feet away.
- Point the code to a mobile-friendly page. Most people will be scanning and viewing on their phone.
- If scan tracking matters to you (useful for gauging sign traffic on quiet listings), use a dynamic link with analytics, not a plain static code.
