FUB: Understanding "Last Email" vs. "Email Activity"

FUB: Understanding "Last Email" vs. "Email Activity"

These two fields in FUB look similar but track different things. Here's the distinction.

Last Email

What it shows: The date of the most recent email sent to or received from this contact, regardless of who initiated it.

Use it to answer: "When did I last have any email contact with this person?"

This field updates any time an email is sent or received in the FUB thread for that contact — including automated action plan emails.

Email Activity

What it shows: A broader log of email engagement — opens, clicks, bounces, and unsubscribes — tracked via FUB's email tracking system.

Use it to answer: "Is this person actually engaging with my emails, or are they going unread?"

Email activity gives you behavioral data: did they open the email, did they click a link, or did it bounce entirely?

Practical Use

You want to know... Look at...
When I last emailed them Last Email
Whether they're opening my emails Email Activity
Whether my emails are bouncing Email Activity (bounce flag)
When their last action plan email went out Last Email (check the thread for context)

Smart List Filtering

Both fields are available as filters when building Smart Lists:

  • Filter by Last Email to find contacts you haven't emailed in X days
  • Filter by Email Activity to find contacts who have never opened an email

See FUB: Smart Lists for how to build these filters.

Why Your "Last Email" Date Might Look Unexpected

If Last Email shows a recent date but you don't remember emailing that person, it's likely an action plan email fired automatically. Check the contact's activity thread to see exactly what was sent.
